New Salon Policies in the Wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic

Good news everyone, Color Loft Salon will be officially opening its doors on June 2nd!

In the weeks leading up to that date, I will be voluntarily working limited hours to serve the guests that have been away from the salon the longest and lessen the tidal wave of clients that will be anxious to get back in my chair ASAP.

It’s also important to know that in the wake of all this, we have decided now would be a good time to update some things around the salon and that there will be some new rules and regulations both the stylists and clients will have to follow to be sure we are providing a safe environment for all of our guests.

Please read through this and be sure to message me with any and all comments or questions you may have!

First things First!

Let’s talk about why I have chosen to only work limited hours in the beginning.

Although I'd love to see each and every one of you on day ONE, some of you may or may not know, but I have a lung condition. I’ve had multiple surgeries over the years and parts of my lung removed. I am not sure how well I will be able to work with a mask on and I may have to take regular breaks to make sure my o2 stats don’t drop too low. I hope everyone understands, I want to get you all in ASAP but I also have to prioritize my own health. These limited hour days will be a way for me to slowly and safely test my limits and capabilities in this “new normal” we will be living in.

Next up! CHANGES.

God, don’t we all just hate change?! I know I do. But in this new normal sometimes we just have to go with the flow.

One of the significant changes you may notice when coming back into the salon will be the new arrangement! We have moved the stations and all furniture around to best comply with the social distancing standards we will be mandated to adhere to.

We will also be able to utilize the upstairs space now! (SO EXCITED, GUYS!)

While we were away, Michelle took the time to prepare that space for clients as well. So, I may be working upstairs or downstairs (depending on the day) the next time I see you!

Another change you will see is in our prices. A small price increase is to be expected in the wake of this pandemic as the cost of doing business has gone up quite a bit. I, and my team at CLS, hope that everyone understands and knows that we are doing everything in our power to keep every one of our clients and staff members safe and healthy.

There will also be a lengthy new set of rules we will all be required to adhere to.

First and foremost, I want everyone to realize that these rules are not in place to discriminate against anyone but to equally protect us all! We have a wide cast of clientele, some of which are people who could experience detrimental health problems if they were to contract the virus. In making all of our decisions, we had to think of and weigh all the odds and make difficult choices in order to keep each and every one of our guests safe. If any of these new policies are something you are not comfortable with complying with, we will do our best to work with you within the constraints of the law and our State Board Regulations. In this process, it may be decided that we may have to respectfully part and go our separate ways. If that be the unfortunate case, I will always respect your decision and not judge you for making it, and I would hope that we may welcome you back into the salon when the social distancing requirements are lifted.

With that being said, here is the list of new requirements:

-We first ask that upon arriving at the salon for your scheduled appointment, you wait in your car instead of in the waiting area. When you pull up, just call into the salon and let us know you are here. When we are ready for you, we will give you a call or text to let you know it’s okay to come on in OR we will simply step out and give you a wave.

- We will ask that you don’t bring your children, or anyone else, into the salon with you for your appointment. The only exceptions would be for caretakers. (i.e. Parents accompanying their children who have appointments or persons who require caregivers.)

-We will be asking you a series of questions upon entry into the salon and we ask that you DO NOT come in if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or have been around anyone who may be infected within the past 14 days.

-Upon arriving at Color Loft Salon, your temperature will be taken and you will be asked to sanitize your hands either with the hand sanitizer we will provide or by going straight into the bathroom and thoroughly washing with soap and water for 20 seconds.

Hand sanitizer will be strategically placed all around the salon. Feel free to use it as much as you want, any time you want, for the duration of your appointment.

-Social Distancing Standards will be in practice in the salon. All stations and shampoo areas will be 6ft apart and designated “processing areas” will be marked.

-All snacks and refreshments will still be available upon request but self-service will be discontinued.

-All stylists and employees will be required to wear a mask at all times and practice regular handwashing and sanitation practices.

-All Clients will be required to wear a facial covering as well. We ask that you bring your own, but we will provide you with one if needed. Whatever style of mask you decide is most comfortable for you, we will ask that your mask not loop around the back of your head (for obvious reasons).

If you have a medical condition that prohibits you from wearing the mask, we ask that you message our salon FB page or email michelle@colorloftsalon.com to discuss when and how we may be able to accommodate you in an effective and safe manner for all of us!

-All self-service product sales will also be discontinued for the time being, but don't worry! We will still be able to provide you with all your favorite products upon request.

If you decide you need a product during your service, I will be happy to go and get it for you from our stock. If you know what products you will be needing at a future service, you can now go online and order those prior to your appointment. We will have everything packed up and ready for you when you get here!

-We will also be introducing a NEW way to pay! We are going to ask all our clients to allow us to put their card on file in our system. No more having to dig through your purse to find the wallet hiding in that dark corner of your bag or dig through your wallet to find your sneaky card that your husband put back in the wrong slot! This is a safe and secure system, so have peace in mind knowing no one else will ever receive your information.

We hope this will give our clients the peace of mind knowing they don't have to hand their card back and forth to us and possibly pass germs. It will also help us to have fewer points of contact with customers and keep us safer as well.

We will keep this into the future, that way, it will streamline your appointment checkout time and help reduce those backups at the front desk!

As I said above, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me and ask!

I will work with you to the best of my ability to get you taken care of while keeping everyone involved safe and healthy.

I understand these are weird and uncertain times and we all have our concerns about an array of different things. I will never be one to judge anyone negatively for any decisions that they decide is best for them or their families and encourage everyone to extend the same understanding to myself and my team at Color Loft Salon as well.

I look forward to seeing each and every one of you very soon!
